On this week’s episode of the popcast, we’re introduced to Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), the MCU’s latest superhero and newest Avenger(?), whom we meet in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. When we meet Shang-Chi he seems to be an ordinary if underachieving parking attendant living in San Francisco. His only aspiration in life seems to be to hang out with his best friend, Katy (Awkwafina). Everything changes when they are accosted on a bus by members of the Ten Rings gang. It’s during this attack that Katy realizes there’s so much more to her best friend than meets the eye and that she may not actually know him as well as she thought she did, if at all.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is one of the best soundtracks EVER. PERIODT. It’s amazing from beginning to end. It’s one of those rare albums and even more rare soundtracks where there are no skips from beginning to end. It’s been steady in the rotation and on repeat since it dropped. It was produced by 88 Rising and features many Asian artists such as 88 Rising; NIKI; Mark Tuan; BiBi; Jhené Aiko; Rich Brian; DPR LiVE; DPR IAN; and AUDREY NUNA just to name a few.
