EDDIE’S TOP HEADLINES 2021

So much has happened this year, too much really but I did my best to narrow it down. Here’s hoping 2022 won’t be such a shit show.

These are in no particular order, just some of the stories that really stuck with me throughout the year and a couple just happened as we closed out the year.

BTS’ Domination Grows

BTS had an even more incredible 2021 than they did 2020. And the strength of their record breaking chart topping year came on the release of 3 singles. They also had a super successful 4 concert residency at LA’s Sofi Stadium before Rona’s bitch ass cousin Omicron (AKA Omarion) blew up our lives again. The sky continues to be the limit for BTS. Can’t wait to see what they deliver in 2022.

RONA Still Wreaking Havoc

Dis bitch here and all mutated ass cousins and offspring just can’t seem to quit us. Or we can’t seem to quit her since there are still waaaaay too many people refusing to take Rona seriously. Now we have to deal with Omciron and who knows what next. 3 years in and in many ways this shit is just getting worse not better. As long as this bullshit keeps mutating we are going to have to accept this is the new normal.

Rest In Peace & Power

Betty White, John Madden, DMX, Cicely Tyson, and Michael K. Williams just to name a few add to that the names of those who we don’t know whose passing don’t make the headlines. We’ve lost some beloved figures here on earth, but I would like to believe we’ve gained just as many angels in heaven. May they all rest in peace & power.

A Day We’ll Never Forget As Hard As Some May Try

It’s still hard to describe this day and especially its aftermath. Something that shouldn’t have two sides, something that seems so simple in what happened, who was responsible and what the consequences should be has been politicized and I pray that we will ultimately get the answers and justice we deserve and those who are responsible will be held accountable.

Free At Last

The #FreeBritney movement finally led to the end of her seemingly endless and at times hopeless for the popstar conservatorship, under which she suffered more abuses than we will probably ever know. I hate to imagine considering what little we do know about her life under the 13-year conservatorship was horrible. She has only scratched the surface on reclaiming her life and telling her story. Yes, that is an interview, book, movie, and all of the above that I want to read and or watch.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Even though he who shall not be named is no longer POTUS, (🙏 🙏) doesn’t mean that all went back to normal in the world of politics. Far from it…the Mango Menace left a clusterfuck of a shit show in his wake. Not to sound hyperbolic but our democracy is on the brink, especially if we don’t pass a voting rights bill. One party is openly calling for & supporting treason (to say the least) Here’s hoping we make the right decisions in the 2022 midterms. And we won’t even go there with this joke of Handmaid’s Tale SCOTUS.

The Show Should Not Have Gone On

I still don’t have the words to fully express how heartbreakingly tragic this was and still is. This event should have been canceled/postponed from the beginning. There were so many red flags throughout the day and the show itself. I hope the families and the people get answers and the accountability they deserve.

SCORE

Sports stories dominated the news in many ways from Shohei Ohtani’s remarkable/record breaking MLB season to Tom Brady winning yet another SB. We also had to deal with the covidiots here’s looking at you Aaron Rodgers, Kyrie Irving, and Antonio “Should’ve Just Paid the Damn Chef” Brown. The NFL & NBA just giving up on Rona Protocol. John Gruden getting fired on his day off . To the off year Olympics to Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles reclaiming their magic by protecting their mental health and so much more. 2021 was an incredible year for sports both on and off the field.

Justice Was Finally Served

After years, decades of getting away with sexual abuse and assault R. Kelly was finally held to account and found guilty for being the despicable human being he is. Finally justice was served. And no he was not railroaded or set up (sidenote Boosie Badazz is a Trashazz). Despite his talent which can’t be denied he is a horrible person who has done horrible things. One doesn’t negate or excuse the other. Hopefully, Trey Songz is the next alleged serial sex offender/predator to face calls for justice.

Jay Park Stepping Down

After a great year for both of his labels AOMG & H1GHR Music, founder and CEO Jay Park announced that he was stepping down from running the day-to-day as CEO of his labels. This was shocking, to say the least. But I do look forward to seeing what Jay Park does in the next chapter and if the labels that feature artists such as BIG NAUGHTY, ph-1, JAY B, GRAY, Hoody, LeeHi, and Yuegyeom to name a few will continue the growth and momentum they experienced in 2021. I for one certainly hope so.
