This week we shine the spotlight on Canadian R&B duo dvsn (pronounced division). The group is composed of Daniel Daley, singer, and produce Nineteen85. They are signed to Drake’s OVO Sound label. They have collabed with artists such as PARTYNEXTDOOR, Majid Jordan, Jessie Reyez, Drake, and others.
I first stumbled onto dvsn about a month or so ago when I was working on the New This Week On The Radio playlist. They were one of the fresh finds. I totally went apeshit for their amazing cover of “Use Somebody” (Kings of Leon). That song is a hard one to cover and they completely killed it and made it their own. After that, I was determined to listen to everything they’ve ever done. After which I only became a bigger fan. I was happy to discover that the “Use Somebody” cover was not a fluke. They are straight-up talented. I am looking forward to hearing more from dvsn and have even added them to my must-see live list. (Hopefully, we’ll get to do concerts again - SOON 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾). Until then I have their NPR- Tiny Desk Concert from 2018, to hold me over. I hope as you listen you enjoy them as much as I do.
