We were introduced to Lauryn Hill through the Fugees. But I don’t think I truly understood or appreciated the true depths of her talents until she released her solo project, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Dare I say that this album only scratched the surface? To this day it still remains a certified classic. It gave us a true look into the genius and talent that is the one the only Ms. Lauryn Hill. The only problem with this album is there was never a true follow-up. No, I do not count her MTV Unplugged album as an official release. This album still bangs just as hard as it did the first time I heard it. It’s one that I listen to front to back and just play all the way through on repeat. Having said that I do have a few favorites:

  • Ex-Factor

  • Superstar

  • Every Ghetto, Every City

  • I Used To Love Him (Mary J. Blige)

  • Nothing Even Matters (D’Angelo)

If you have never heard this album? Then I don’t know what to say besides - enjoy. If you haven’t heard it in a while then I will say you’re welcome and thank you for allowing me to reintroduce you to a true classic.
