The Daily Wine Down (10-21)
The End Of The Road
We now know the Fast & Furious series will end after 2 more movies, which for those who have lost count will be the 11th in the series. We also know that Justin Lin will direct the final two movies. He helmed movies 3-6 and the delayed 9th installment, which will be released next summer. (again f*@%ing Rona). I must admit I’m a huge fan of the series and have seen every one of the movies several times. I rewatched the 1-8 this summer, as part of the quest to remain sane during quarantine. Yes, even Tokyo Drift (#3). So now we know when it’ll end that leaves us with the how. On a side note, I hope do they a female-centric spinoff of the series. (Deadline) SEE TRAILER BELOW
Reese Witherspoon & Her Legal Reunion
Reese Witherspoon and the cast of the “Legally Blonde” movies had a virtual reunion, to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the film. Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been that long since Elle Woods bent and snapped her way into Harvard Law School. It was also announced that Legally Blonde 3, written by Mindy Kaling will be released in May 2022. Yes, Witherspoon will be reprising her role as Elle Woods. I’m excited. I absolutely love all things Mindy. Kaling and Reese Witherspoon. (EW)
Gyllenhaal Is "The Son"
Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star and executive produce “The Son”, a limited series for HBO Max. The film is based on a book of the same name, about vengeance and corruption in Oslo Sweden. It was originally intended to be a film but developed as a series instead. Love Jake Gyllenhaal. Can’t wait to see this. Definitely going on the popcast. (Variety)
FOX Announces Primetime Return Dates
Fox has announced the return of some if’s biggest shows such as The Resident, Prodigal Son, and its 9-1-1 series. The shows are set to return in January. This gives those of you who have not watched Prodigal Son plenty of time to catch up. That show is AHHHmazing. (TVLine)
Billie Goes Virtual
Billie Eilish is the latest artist to put on a virtual concert. The event will take place Saturday 10-24 and tickets are $30 (ticket info). The concert will feature elements from her “Where Do We Go” tour which was delayed earlier this year. I love how Rona is inspiring creativity and how we’re finding new ways to do the things we love. I just wonder how we adapt all this into the new normal. I do love virtual concerts but can’t wait til I can go enjoy a live show. Until then this is the perfect alternative and I hope more artists begin to do virtual shows..(Billboard)
I Want My Apple TV Music...
Apple launched Apple TV Music on Monday (Oct. 19). It’s a free 24hr live stream of music videos. So basically it’s MTV for this generation. It was the quietest launch. EVER. Maybe because the channel is only available in the US as of now. Hopefully, with some success, it will expand. Will Apple give YouTube a run for its money in the MV game? Only time will tell. I really like this idea. I have missed MTV, back when it showed videos and was more than the ‘Teen Mom” network. I have checked the channel out casually and may offer a Quick Pop once I’ve had a chance to do a deep dive into it. (VARIETY)
