Aaron Taylor-Johnson Boards The 'Bullet Train' With Brad Pitt
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has joined the cast of the thriller ‘Bullet Train’ co-starring Brad Pitt. The movie is based on the Japanese book “Maria Beetle” by Kotaro Isaka. It’s about a group of hitmen and assassins on a train in Tokyo. Having never read the book, I am just gonna take a guess and say they are up to no good. Joey King is also attached to the project. I must say so far I love everything about this movie. The cast, the production team (Antoine Fuqua is attached as a producer). assassins and hitmen. What’s not to love? (Variety)
This Is Us Is Keeping It Real
‘This Is Us’ has decided to weave the Coronavirus (in my Cardi B voice) and Black Lives Matter into its current season, during the present day timelines. I think this is a great idea, especially for this show. Let me start by saying I love this show. Now also let me be totally honest and say I don’t watch it. Why? I am not about that crying after every episode life, so I read the far less tear inducing recaps. Although I might have to break my own rule and catch a couple of real episodes this year. I am really interested to see how they will tackle the Rona and BLM. See the trailer for season 5 in the Trailer Park below. (EW)
Residente's New Sony Deal
Grammy winner Residente has signed a new all inclusive deal with Sony in which he will launch 1868 Studios. Under the new deal Residente will create, produce, and distribute a variety of content including film and tv shows as well as music across varying platforms. The focus for the new content will be on “bringing the authentic representation of cultural narratives including Latinx stories in front of and behind the camera.” This is awesome. I can’t wait to see what comes out of 1868(Deadline)
Showrunners Say What They Would Do If They Wrote A Cop Show
In this age of racial reckoning especially within the justice system and more specifically with how black and brown people are treated by police, I am really interested to see how police shows will handle or rather incorporate the real world and very necessary calls for reforms into their plot lines. One of my favorite shows ‘Chicago PD’ is probably one of the most egregious offenders. Reading this article and seeing how various showrunners answered the question made two things clear. The issue must be addressed even on TV shows and there is no clear cut way as to how to do so. (THR)
Rosario Dawson is Dope
Rosario Dawson has joined Hulu’s limited series ‘Dopesick’. The series will deep dive into America’s opioid crisis. Dawson’s character is described as a tough as nails DEA agent. She will be a series regular. ‘Dopesick’ also stars Michael Keaton and is adapted from Beth Macy’s bestselling book. I love Rosario Dawson and this show seems right up my alley. (Deadline)
