The Daily Wine Down (11-16)
No Place Like Home
This has been years in the making. The entire Banks family (RIP Uncle Phil) is reuniting, even the OG Aunt Viv. I usually don’t get geeked out about reunion specials, but I must say this is one I am without a doubt looking forward to. I am also glad Will Smith and Janet Hubert have finally made peace. The special airs on HBO Max, Friday, November 19th. I am also excited to see the reboot. Keep an eye for the trailer and more details as they become available. (Deadline)
Sly Joins The Squad
Sylvester Stallone is joining the Suicide Squad Sequel. James Gunn announced Stallone’s role for the first time on social media, although he did not release any other details. I’m kinda geeked about this, both the casting and the movie itself. I really hope it’s better than the first. Also joining the cast in this installment is Idris Elba as Bloodsport. Many speculated that he would be taking over the role of Deadshot for Will Smith, who is not returning due to scheduling conflicts. Out of respect for Smith, James Gunn wrote Deadshot out of the movie, hopefully not the franchise. Suicide Squad 2 is scheduled to be released In August 2021. (Variety)
Thor's Intergalatic Crossover
Chris Pratt is going to bring Star Lord to Thor:Love and Thunder. Rumor has it that some of the other Guardians will join Star Lord on this intergalactic crossover. Natalie Portman is also reprising her role of Jane. This will be her first return to Thor since the 2nd installment in the franchise. Production is slated to start in January 2021, while the movie is scheduled for release in February 2022. I am beyond excited to see this movie. I loved Thor: Ragnarok, which was the best of the series so far. (Variety)
Angel v. Spike 2020
Yes, all these years later we’re still having this debate about who was the better man, vampire for Buffy. I am trying to not let Joss Whedon’s problematic behavior which apparently dates back even further than the Justice League to his days running Buffy and Angel ruin these shows for me. So I will just proceed with the issue at hand who was the better man for Buffy? I have always had a soft spot for the Bangel ship. That also sounds better than Spuffy or Bike. However, Spike did grow on me like a fungus, although I do love James Marsters as an actor. Well, Alysson Hannigan recently weighed in on the debate and she had a very interesting answer. Angel was the first love and Spike was the adult love. Makes sense. You always carry a soft spot for your first love. (EW)
Megan's "Good News"
One of my favorites, Megan Thee Stallion has announced the release of her long-awaited debut album, Good News. The album is set to drop Friday, Nov. 20. This is good news and I will definitely check it out. The album is available for pre-order now. (EW)
Good Morning, Hasan
Hasan Minhaj has joined the cast of Apple TV’s The Morning Show. He will recur as Eric, a charismatic new member of the team. Sounds like a perfect fit. I am a huge Hasan Minhaj fan and was so pissed when Netflix canceled Patriot Act. Even the home produced shows, during Rona were still good. Anyway I am happy to see him heading back to TV and will make it even more of a point to watch The Morning Show. (THR)
