The Daily Wine Down (11-11)
Tracking BTS
Seven days and counting, as BTS continues the ramp-up for the release of their heavily anticipated new album, BE. (Nov. 20) and subsequent comeback. Last week we got individual concept photos from each member. This week we were blessed with a retro trailer Seasons Greeting trailer (click the pic) and today they dropped the BE tracklist. The album is going to include 8 songs including their Billboard-topping single, “Dynamite”. They also officially announced their AMA (Nov.22 @ 8/7 CST) performance will feature the TV debut of their new song, “Life Goes On” as well as “Dynamite”. I am looking forward to the album as well as the entire comeback, even though SUGA won’t be participating due to shoulder surgery. Get well soon Suga. Spoiler Alert the Dec 2nd episode of the popcast is going to feature BTS and BE . 😄😄 So stay tuned.
Get Your Freak On
Although I am not a big fan of “horror” movies, I must admit Blumhouse has generally done a great job reviving the genre over the past few years. Although not enough to make me want to watch, until now. Their latest offering Freaky, starring Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton has actually piqued my interest. It’s a horror movie/ thriller twist of the whole Freaky Friday concept. In Freaky, the would-be victim and the crazy murdering psycho somehow switch bodies. While it looks interesting (click pic for trailer) I am obviously not going to the theater to see it. Maybe if Rona weren’t acting like she runs these streets, I might have used one of my AMC Stubs passes on it. But for now, I will wait until it hits digital. (EW)
CBS Eyes Diversity Changes
CBS is making diversity and representation a top priority across its entire broadcasting spectrum. They recently announced starting with the 2021-2022 season 50% of the cast on its unscripted (reality) shows would be BIPOC. They have also allocated 25% of their unscripted budget to be used for the production and development of shows from BIPOC producers. They are also looking to diversify current production crews. They had previously announced similar measures for their scripted series. I am not a big fan of reality shows. But I do know CBS has long been under fire for not including more people of color on their top unscripted shows like Survivor and Big Brother. (THR)
Marvel Through The Looking Glass
Words can not express how excited I am about WandaVision. The more I find out about the show the more excited I get. The show is apparently the key, if not the catalyst for many of the major plotlines /threads in the upcoming MCU. So I guess Wandavision is a reboot of the MCU or at least the official passing of the torch to the new guard. Whatever you want to call it, December can’t get here fast enough. The exact premiere date is still TBD. Although many are speculating that Disney+ will release it on Christmas or just before the New Year. (click the pic for trailer). In the meantime, WandaVision covers the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. (EW)
Yuletide TV
My all-time favorite Christmas movie is hands down without a doubt no question about it - Miracle on 34th Street (OG black and white version). I know most people go with It’s A Wonderful Life, but I said what I said. I watch Miracle On 34th Street at least a couple of times throughout the season, which doesn’t officially begin until Thanksgiving. That is when I pull out the Christmas music and movies. But for those who believe it begins November 1st if not sooner here is the list of all the new Christmas movie premieres. There are a lot of them, especially with streaming networks (I see you Netflix trying to earn my rate increase). Hopefully, this will make it seem a little bit more like Christmas this year.
