The Monday Wine Down (1-11)
Where Do We Go From Here?
Like most of us, I have so many thoughts and feelings that I am still trying to process about last Wednesday’s insurrectionist riot at the Capitol. Arnold Schwarzenegger shared his thoughts via Twitter. The platform also permanently deleted Trump’s account. FINALLY. Parler was also removed from all platforms. Also not shedding any tears over that. For those who are hollering this violates free speech. It does NOT. The First Amendment does not protect criminal, insurrectionist, or violent speech. Nor does it protect hate crimes. I highly recommend all these people take a civics class. Plus all of these companies have safeguards against violent speech in the terms of use and service agreements which we never fully read and just agree to. I agree that all the people who co-signed on this riot especially after the fact should be removed from office and barred from ever running from public office again. They have so obviously failed to uphold their oath of office, the foundation of which is to protect and uphold the Constitution of the United States. Not protect an infantile, impotent wanna be a dictator.
Coming In 2021
It is looking more and more like Rona will also adversely affect the 2021 TV pilot season in much of the same way as it did the 2020 Pilot Season. Not all is lost. Here is a list of some of the most highly anticipated new shows of 2021 including the Fresh Prince reboot Bel -Air. I am really excited for this show the more I hear and read about it the more anxious (in a good way) I become for the premiere. There is also the long-awaited Friends reunion. However the show I am most excited for is Colin in Black and White. That is the show based on Colin Kaepernick’s childhood. (THR)
January Reading List
I have started working on my ever growing reading list. I came up with a schedule and have a lot more reading since I last mentioned it. That’s the good news. The bad news is I have added more to my list and the books I have read were not on my list. Plus after seeing January’s reading list I have definitely added more books to my own personal list. Although there can never be bad news when it comes to reading, unless of course the bad news is that you’re not reading. Anyway let’s get to it. This month’s list included a thriller about what seems to be a demonic baby. Interesting. Yes, it made the list. Angie Thomas’ prequel to The Hate You Give, which tells the patriarch of the Carter family, Maverick’s backstory. Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ memoir. Also, the first book to take advantage of the expired Gatsby copyrights, which is a prequel about Nick Carraway. As usual, there is something for everyone and I do hope you find it because 2021 is so far also proving the need the escape reality for a bit. (EW)
It Was the Last Piece...For Now
Well in news that everyone saw coming K-Piop group GOT7 has not officially disbanded (according to members) but they have ALL left JYPE entertainment. The sad part of this news is that the group is disbanding. Pretty much everyone and their mother is happy they’re leaving JYPE, which treated them with nothing but disrespect. It was confirmed that all seven members will be leaving the company and pursuing careers with other entertainment/management companies. It’s a shame JYPE didn’t realize or didn’t care about what he had in that group because despite all the obstacles the company threw in their way they just got better and better. This was clearly evidenced in their last and best album for JYPE Breath of Love: Last Piece. Hopefully, we will see a GOT7 reunion project and some future collaborations between the members. I will support each and every one individually. Good Luck on future endeavors to all of them. (AllKPop)
Coming To a Theater Near You?
Here is another list With Rona still wreaking havoc on movie theaters, studios, and everything in between. As such most of 2020’s big films were pushed back and delayed with the hopes of being able to release them this year. Well…all I will say fro that is that the year is still young and as I so often say it’s not how you start but how you finish. Because whew chile 2021 is already on that bullshit…But I digress…Basically this list contains most of the films we were looking forward to last year, except Wonder Woman of course. We will see as the year progresses exactly how the movies will be released and if the studios will have to opt for some hybrid options. Given the current situation, I will say they will and the theaters will have to be more amenable to hybrid options. (EW)
