The Tuesday Wine Down (1-12)
Sex Still Sells and Pays Well
It’s official Sex and the City is coming back. No unfortunately, stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie) and Kim Cattrall (Samantha) have not squashed their beef, so the revival will be Samanthaless. Which was many a fan’s favorite character. We’ll see how they do it. I also wonder if the show will meet the moment. It was great for what it was in the late 90’s early 2000’s but it did not age well because it was actually tone deaf af and Carrie and Big’s relationship was just as toxic. So hopefully the new version will rise to the occasion. But aside from that the cast is reportedly receiving that Friends payday and getting a million dollars per episode. So hey I ain’t mad at all. Get your paper ladies. And yes I will definitely be tuning in. The revival is set for HBO Max. (Variety)
The New School Lucy & Desi
Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are in talks to star as Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in an Aaron Sorkin project for Amazon based on the iconic duo. called Being the Ricardos . Honestly this is perfect casting. I can totally see both actors pulling this off with such ease.
The movie takes place over the course of week during the production of the couple’s iconic show I Love Lucy where they face two simultaneous crises. One aimed at destroying their career the other their marriage. Sorkin is also set to direct.
Sounds interesting. I’ve always been fascinated by Lucy and Desi and their life together behind the scenes. As I stated the casting seems perfect. With Sorkin this can go either way. It can be the perfect dramatic take on the couple’s life or it can be an over the top melodrama. Either way I am adding to the must see list. (Deadline)
Most Anticipated Books of 2021
I am geeking out. 🤓🤓🤓Yesterday I revealed January’s book list and today we have the most anticipated books of the year. This list is straight bibliophile porn. It features some literalry powerhouses, YA thrileers, and a relai life super hero. At the top of my list is political rock star and savior of democracy Stacy Abrams’ political thriller While Justice Sleeps. Fun fact Abrams writes romance novels under the pseudonym Selena Montgomery. Yes this book is also being added to the 30 mile long reading list. Hell it’ll probably get bumped to the top. I think I am going to have to start a book review section so I can actually get them off the list. (EW)
ZAYN Wants You To Call Him
ZAYN gave out his number on social media yesterday. Those who call the number get a preview of his highly anticipated album Nobody Is Listening before it drops on Friday. I am anxiously awaiting this album. Based on the first two singles “Better” and “Vibez” (both are straight 🔥🔥🔥) it seems that ZAYN has found his groove and is completely in his bag and I for one can not wait to hear the album in its entirety. I think I will add it to the Quick Pop list. As for the number I don’t know if I will call it. But I must admit this is one of the more creative marketing tactics I’ve seen. For those interested in calling ZAYN and getting a preview of this album the number is (323)-991- ZAYN. BTW today is ZAYN’s birthday. 🎂(Billboard)
CAN NOT WAIT
Even with Rona massively screwing everything up this is shaping up to be one of the most competitive Awards seasons in recent memory. The movies and performances this year are …. wow…And I can not wait for this movie in particular. Judas and the Black Messiah directed by Shaka King and starring two of my favorite actors LaKeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya is about the the state sanctioned assassination of Fred Hampton, leader of the Black Panthers. I have heard nothing but good things about this movie. I remember writing a little about it before the holidays. Yes it is definitely on the list. I will also try to create a special section or something to keep all the award contenders straight. Keep an eye out for a trailer in the Trailer Park. (EW)
Deja Vu
Yesterday we talked about the most anticipated movies of 2021. Many of which were movies which had been delayed from last year. Well it looks some of these films and releases will be pushed again. Say it with me “fucking Rona”. Morbius is one of the first films to announce it’s delay. It’s now being pushed back to October. Cinderella is the first major release scheduled for February but if things don’t get better 👀 in the next few weeks, it’ll probably be pushed as well. We’ll see if the studios hold out or if they do hybrid (streaming and theatrical releasess) or just sell to the streamers ala Coming 2 America. (Variety)
