The Wednesday Wine Down (1-13)
Netflix Is Going Big
We may have more delayed theatrical releases in our future but never fear Netflix is here to save the day. The streaming giant announced its plans to release a new movie every week for 2021. Apparently, they teased this plan back in October of last year but honestly who remembers? Within this announcement, Netlfix seemingly confirmed the end to their popular The Kissing Booth and To All the Boys series. Although they did not announce premiere dates for those or many other movies, besides those which have already been announced. (Variety)
Rumor Has It...
I am a huge Bond fan as you all know and as anxious as I am for the next and final movie in the Daniel Craig era, whom I happen to believe is the best Bond apart from the OG Sean Connery, I am even more excited to see where the franchise goes next. I am one of those who would love to see a black man as the next James Bond. Idris Elba has always been the front runner in that conversation, That is until Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton) popped onto the scene. So he is now rumored to be in the running to be the next Bond. This is actually not a bad one as far as Bond rumors go. I can see it, especially if they decide to go younger and do a prequel or origin story. I guess as a British actor you know you’ve truly made it when the Bond rumors start. (EW)
Our National Nightmare
It seems politics has seeped into just about every facet of our daily lives as much as we may not have wanted it to. The next week is going to be so crazy and something tells me this is the calm before a shitstorm and I pray that I am wrong but with this current administration operating on full batshit crazy mode, anything and everything is possible. The FBI is warning of armed “protests" and “demonstrations” outside of every state capitol this weekend. They apparently issued warnings before the insurrection at the capitol last week. Let’s hope these current warnings are taken more seriously.
Trump is also expected to be impeached for the second time today. This would make him the first President in history to ever have been impeached twice. This is being done because Pence refuses to enact the 25th Amendment, even though he was one of the main targets of last week’s insurrection. What truly amazes me is that once most Republicans and conservatives that this was not going to be dismissed as Trump being Trump or another over the top MAGA rally they are now deciding to speak out about it and how bad it was. GMAFB. While some others still have their heads firmly implanted in their ….
On another note, Bill Belichick has refused the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest civilian honor one can receive. In the past, it has been given to Joe Biden, Martin Luther King Jr, John Lewis, Oprah Winfrey, etc. However, Trump has been handing them out like candy to trick or treaters. He wants to give them Devin Nunes and Jim Jordan.
So that is where we are as of today, in this political nightmare from which I truly hope we wake up soon so we can then begin to deal with the PTSD of the last four years under this administration.
The Wildest Ride Yet
Fast & Furious 9 is one of the moves I was most looking forward to last year. I rewatched the entire series last summer. Yes, that includes Tokyo Drift. This series is one of my guilty pleasure series. I know it’s going to be ridiculous and over the top but I love it and will never apologize for doing so. Anyway, Vin Diesel recently spoke about the next installment in the series and promises more bat shit craziness. He also gives some details about Han’s return. 👀👀 I think that is the thing I am looking forward to the most. Although I am happy he’s back. I just want to know HOW. (EW)
