The One Where…The Vacation Is Over
All Hail Shang-Chi, King of The Labor Day Box Office
Big shout out to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as it ruled the Labor Day Box office. Not only that it also obliterated previous Labor Day records. I am so glad it did too especially after the whole Black Widow debacle, and the Disney President then saying that they were using the release guidelines for Shang-Chi as an “experiment”. Also if you have not seen this movie yet, go check it out. You can also be on the look out for our Shang Chi episode coming soon. (EW)
Sometimes Business is Very Personal
They were once Hollywood’s golden it couple, Brangelina, but then there was an incident involving Brad Pitt and one of their children, and six days later Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. We’ve had little insight as to what led to the divorce besides both sides lobbing allegations back and forth. For me this story about how Pitt not only chose but actively sought to work with Harvey Weinstein after he knew that his wife had allegedly been one of his victims, which Weinstein has denied 👀, provides a little more insight into what could have been going on behind the scenes. Jolie said, of course, she was “hurt” by this and they argued about it.
Tammy and I talk about this on the latest episode of the ReWine. I really like both Jolie and Pitt and tried not to take sides in their divorce especially without knowing the full story. Relationships are complicated and usually when a relationship breaks down when the smoke clears and all is said and done there is enough blame to go around. However, if this story is true this was beyond an asshole move on Pitt’s part and speaks volumes and I would have filed for divorce then. (People)
Miles Teller Shuts It Down
I have heard rumors about Miles Teller being problematic on sets but this takes it to a whole other level. The actor allegedly tested positive for the Rona after refusing the vax and/or to even get tested. Well, now he as the Rona and shut down the whole production of his latest project, The Offer, which is a series about The Godfather. This is just the height of selfishness. I wonder if his refusal to get tested is what pushed back the release of the Top Gun movie because you know Tom Cruise ain’t about playing those Rona games. Well you know what they say, “Play stupid games, get stupid prizes” and Miles Teller wins jackass of the week. (Vanity Fair)
Game Over In China
China isn’t playing around and honestly, they may be on to something with their new law limiting the amount of time kids can play video games throughout the week to 3 hrs per week. I agree with the concept but the execution leaves something to be desired. Of course, that could never happen in the US, not that I would even want it to. But we can’t even get people to wear a mask or take a shot for the good of humanity, let alone limit the amount of time kids spend playing video games. Now don’t get me wrong I play games myself, but it’s NOT all I do. So while China may not necessarily have the right solution at least they are starting a real conversation that needs to be had about excessive gaming especially among the youth. (Reuters)
